📍Pasadena, Maryland
In the times covering Anne Arundel County athletics, one will run across the different rivalries between the schools. One of them you will definitely be alerted to, the Pasadena Bow. It is really know as the Dena Bowl. It’s the rival game between Chesapeake High School (AA) and Northeast HS. Two schools that reside in Pasadena, Maryland. Here comes MFV to cover the JV Football version. Was the atmosphere set to be a battle? Yes, more of a war.
For the Chesapeake Cougars, their motivation might have been to continue the winning streak started by their varsity. Northeast, they had get back. They wanted to make up for their varsity’s loss. Let’s see how this went down.
1ST HALF – COUGARS – 0 EAGLES – 22
Cougars won the coin toss and deferred to the 2nd half. On the Eagles first drive they moved down the field effectively running the ball. A fumble recovery by Chesapeake, changed the momentum for a minute. Cougars didn’t get too far and ended their drive with a punt. Nearing the second quarter, Eagles were in good field position to score and added 8 in the beginning of the 2nd. From then began Northeast’s dominance of the quarter. The Cougars did have two interceptions but struggled to produce points from them.
2ND HALF – COUGARS – 0 EAGLES – 44
The Cougars received the kick looking to make up for the 1st half. Northeast continued with their foot on the gas. Big runs, huge pass plays; it just became difficult to stop them. It wasn’t long the mercy rule Thad been put in place. The get back succeeded and the Northeast Eagles celebrated a victory.
Keep grinding COUGARS, you guys hustled hard even though you didn’t get what you wanted. EAGLES, congrats on the win. Keep striving to get to the championship. Much success to you BOTH.
