Battle of Annapolis

The smell of football was in the air, arriving upon Lawrence Knight Stadium to see the St. Mary’s Saints and the Broadneck Bruins warm up. This matchup had the aroma of a football cross-town Annapolis rivalry. (Some would say Broadneck is in Arnold, Md, and they would be right. But the Annapolis can be used in Broadneck’s address also,so technically both Arnold and Annapolis are correct). Anyways, the rivalry was brewing setting the stage for a big game ahead. Private school versus public. Let’s see what happened

1ST HALF

Broadneck showed itself pretty strong with huge touchdown pass to its top WR Aidan Tupper. The skill he displayed to just get his foot down, catch the ball, and secure the rock while being double covered was absolutely amazing. Great job Aidan.

St. Mary’s did answer back with a TD by #4 Dylin Jackson, who broke a tackle and out sprinted the Bruins defense.

Broadneck led going in to the half 22-13.

2ND HALF

Broadneck Bruins added another score to the board and expanded on their lead.  BUT the Saints rallied back adding two more touchdowns while failing their last two-point conversion. The score now set at 29-27 Broadneck.

Bruins were unable to score on their possession. With about 1:30 left to drive and score, the Saints were up to the task. The game came down to 39 seconds left in the game and a fourth down field goal attempt from St. Mary’s. But Grayson Whitney prevented all of that from being successful, and the Bruins proved victorious in a 29-27 win over the Saints.

Broadneck takes in the moment
