The smell of the grass field gave the mind an inviting sense to prepare for capturing good ole Montgomery County (aka MoCo) varsity football. The undefeated Sherwood Warriors entered Coyotes field looking to keep an undefeated start at 4-0. However, Clarksburg Coyotes had plans to continue the fire burning after an awesome 36-28 defeat of the Richard Montgomery Rockets. It was time to take mid season MoCo football to the next level. But in watching this matchup, what revealed itself were two teams getting ready for future matchups…..
GAME THEME – FIGHT
The Coyotes and Sherwood started out learning each other’s fighting ability. What’s meant by that is their defenses found areas to hit and offenses areas to strike. The watched how they jabbed at each other.
MFV All Sports expected immediate run game domination from Sherwood. It seemed though they mixed it up a bit as to dissect their opponents scheme carefully. You get a run here, short pass there. The Coyotes swung hard putting in a short run/pass strategy attack going at the edge for maximum gain.
The Warriors did begin to dominate entering the half with a 24-0 lead. This is were you would think Clarksburg body language would change, because no points had been placed on the bored. No, they took that LONG walk from the field to the locker room with their heads held up.
THE FIGHT CONTINUES….
You would perceive as a team gets closer to reaching of the mercy rule grounds; players call it quits and let the game take its course. Not for the Coyotes, who held their opponents to only one more touchdown the second half. They amped up their defense second half. They fought to the very end adding a running touchdown to the mix. The final, 31-6, awarded the Warriors victory but Clarksburg gained a momentum for the future.
WHAT’S NEXT????
The Warriors face Quince Orchard (aka QO), who are giants in MoCo, and the rest of the 4A!!! It makes sense they did not maximize too much effort. All they needed to do was secure the win and prepare for the next week.
The Coyotes take on a winless Rockville team, and now possess the ammo to handle a team who may be trying to force an upset to secure first victory. It’s amazing how football is a game of chess, not checkers!!!
FINAL THOUGHTS!!!
Extremely proud of both these squads. Fix the things needing to be fixed, and go in to your next games ready for battle.
