Coming off a spectacular, 34-24, win against the Howard County dominate, Oakland Mills Scorpions; it should be of no question to us the undefeated Guilford Park Panthers Varsity football team is our MFV All Sports Network team to set your eyes upon!!!
Why?
THE PANTHERS HAVE SOMETHING TO PROVE
The Panthers are on a quest to make an even deeper playoff run, than last year’s upsetting loss to Westminster. You can see it in their body language, they want states. They are also defending Howard County champions looking to continue keeping hold of that title. They have a big challenge coming up in facing another HoCo powerhouse, the Howard Lions. We’ll surely see the statement they make.
DEVELOPMENT
A glaring factor for attention towards the Panthers is their excellent coaching and development. Their head coach, Tom Montag, has taken a pretty much brand new team and made them a county powerhouse. Often it takes time, and some bumps and bruises along the road to get to the coveted County Champs. They did it. You’ll notice this stems from a strong focus on developing their players, all of them. That’s truly the right recipe for success.
DOMINANCE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL
Guilford Park has a really tough defense. It was only Oakland Mills that put up 24 on them, hence majority of the time opposition is not scoring or allowed low scores. This is due to the stinginess of their defense. They ain’t giving up much without a fight.
Offensively, they are very versatile. They can beat you on the ground with their county offensive player of the year, Tyler Lee, or kill you in the air with QB, A’Yar Reed-Wright, and receivers, Andrew Adams and Damarcus Howard-Brown on attack. Pick your poison, they are not one dimensional.
As said, there is no perfect team. BUT, the Guilford Park Panthers are definitely making noise, and they’ve got to be heard.
MUCH SUCCESS to you Guilford Park in getting your future achievements. We will be watching!!!!
