Stepping out on the campus of Queen Anne’s County High, the smell of farm was in the air. Haven’t smelt that in ages, but today there would be more to come to the nose. An aroma of battle. Two teams out of Maryland’s Bayside area, Kent Island Buccaneers and the Stephen Decatur Seahawks, fighting for the crown to be called Bayside LAX Champions. This game was actually a repeat match of the 2025 2A State Lacrosse finals at Stevenson University. Kent Island pulled out victorious, so it was quite obvious the Seahawks were looking for get back. The atmosphere was set, time to battle it out and crown someone KING OF THE BAYSIDE!!!!

1ST HALF –  It would be the Seahawks who came out of the gate drawing first blood. In fact, they took a 2-0 lead.  A lot of checking seemed to fade away to be considered fair and legal. It was destined this would be a battle. The Buccaneers did tie the game up and eventually went into the half with a 5-3 lead. 

2ND HALF – My reporter and I looked at each other thinking the game was not over. We had witnessed in the previous girls Bayside championship, a great overtime comeback.  Anything was possible in our minds for the moment. Then, Kent Island Buccaneers turned on the green light and never looked back. It was as if their team was waiting to the second half to dominate the matchup. The lovely Seahawks did score one more goal. The pace of the Bucs was too hard to match. Buccaneers took the victory defeating their Bayside rival, 16-4.

CONGRATULATIONS KENT ISLAND, 2026 BAYSIDE CHAMPIONS!!! What a fabulous game played. BIG SHOUTS SEAHAWKS, keep shining and grinding!!!!
