Still at Tierany Field, after an awesome C conference championship, it was now time to enter the B division’s matchup. I passed by the #1 seeded Mount De Sales Sailors team bench, overhearing what appeared to be a team captain encouraging them on winning their final game. Their opponent, the Garrison Forest Grizzlies looked extremely excited about a positive outlook on the game. It was clear, the stage was being set for a serious competitive LAX atmosphere to begin.

1ST HALF – The Sailors started out scoring first, and the Grizzlies answered back.  Then Mount De Sales went on 3-1 lead only to later be tied up, 3-3. And for the rest of the half, Garrison Forest dominated. At halftime they led 6-3.  But the game was not over!!!

2ND HALF – A coach spoke out to the De Sales team reminding there was still plenty of game left. But it just seemed as Mount De Sales tried to capitalize on such encouragement, Garrison was continuing their domination, at one point leading over the Sailors 9-4.  Pretty much looked like the Championship belonged to Grizzlies. BUT then, Mount De Sales got hold of the fire, and soon tied the game up in the fourth quarter, 11-11. This effort was due to getting turn overs and winning key draws.

OVERTIME – And so the final draw was won by Garrison Forest. Unable to penetrate the defense, the Sailors recovered and proceeded down field. A penalty was enforced placing Mount De Sales in a pivotal position to win the game. With a free shot, Sailor’s player Paige Smith, had  the chance to score. Already having played an excellent game, the anticipation was building up. Unfortunately she missed, making a good shot attempt. Grizzlies and Sailors would then battle for it. Mount De Sales retrieved the ball, shot, and were able to claim the victory, 12-11. It was an amazing moment watching the team rush Tierany Field because they accomplished their ultimate goal being: 2026 IAAM B CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS.

CONGRATULATIONS to you Mount De Sales. You played absolutely outstanding. You overcame adversity and won!!! Proud of what you did and accomplished out there on that field. You deserve to be rewarded as champions.

NOT DISAPPOINTED Garrison Grizzlies. PROUD and appreciate all you gave out on that field. You played like true sportsmen. Like your fan base did as you came to shake hands, MFV applauds you.

These three events have been wonderful. I personally suggest a visit to the USA Lacrosse museum. Also check out a game or two when offered. THANK USA LACROSSE. THANK YOU IAAM!!!!!
