MEDIA can be toxic. While the DMV has some wonderful legit media outlets, there are those who do not possess right motivations. Here is how to discover them if amongst your sports culture:
1 – THEY PROMOTE DRAMA OVER DEVELOPMENT
They have a continuous pursuit of selling controversy. They refuse to highlight growth.
2 – THEY PUBLICLY TEAR DOWN ATHLETES
Reports and coverage of the outlet is very demeaning. This not to be confused with highlighting a bad play. However, it will be quite evident to the PUBLIC there’s no love.
3 – SPREADS RUMORS AS FACTS
Juicy rumors fill their sites. They’ll pump lies like they’re truth!!!
4 – CREATES DIVISION ON THE TEAM
Toxic media is divisive and dips its nose in places it shouldn’t. Teams divide on the things they show. They’ll show the FIGHT, and not what’s RIGHT.
5 – CHASES CLICKS AND LIKES, NOT THE TRUTH
Toxic media wants attention. They thrive for popularity, and will promote anything that will generate a click or like.
The GOOD thing to know is majority of your toxic media doesn’t last too long. Communities in the DMV are great about running bad press out of town. So how can we foster a place, where coverage is great, and available? This we’ll tackle next time. Thank you for taking the time to read.
