It never fails, even here in the DMV, there’s that one player or team that keeps running their mouth. And ain’t gonna lie, it makes a player want to do harm to the individual or individuals. So how do you handle trash talk even though it is apart of athletic competition?

1 – KEEP CALM
As said in the movie Blind Side, “Sticks and stones….” Stay calm and be sure to keep yourself composed.

2 – TURN IT INTO MOTIVATION
Use the things said to you as fuel. Play hard and prove the words false!!!

3 – LET YOUR GAME TALK
Let how you perform do your talking. Your game can speak much louder than their words.

4 – RESPECT THE GAME
If you have to speak, remember to keep it respectful. You can talk, just don’t cross the line.

5 – STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF
Don’t allow your actions to betray good character. Be you and never lower self to their level.!!!!!
Trash talk has been around for the longest. But never allow that which is said to bring you to lower your standards. Stay strong student-athletes and continue growing!!!
